Simple Recipe with Refined Flavor

Recipe | December 06, 2016

Some nights you don’t feel like prepping for 30 min and cooking for another 30. It has been a long day at work and you need something easy to put together with limited ingredients.  Sound familiar?  For a day like this, we present you one of our simple yet refined recipes.

Skirt Steak and Veggies

All you need is a piece of skirt steak, and your choice of veggies.

We prefer to grill skirt steak, but you can also fry in a pan.  As a general rule, your serving of meat per person should be about the size of your fist.  With skirt steak, think about a half pound per person. Rub salt and pepper into the steak before placing on the grill.  Don’t get too creative with different spices here.  You want just a little salt and pepper to help bring out the natural flavor of the beef.  Preheat your grill or pan, medium to high heat, so you get a nice sear.  You want to cook on each side for 5-10 min, depending on your desired level of doneness.  We recommend you aim for medium rare.  When you pull the steak, make sure you let it settle for 5-10 min.  Don’t cut into it immediately.  You want the juices trapped inside to redistribute.  If you cut right into it, they will all leak out.

While you grill your steak sauté your veggies in a pan with some olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper.  When steak is done, slice thinly along the grain, and serve on a plate with your vegetables.  For a finishing touch drizzle Hoisin sauce over everything and finish off with some fresh ground pepper.

This is a perfect dish to take advantage our battery operated salt and pepper mills.  No more manual grinding for you.  With the touch of a button the motor driven mill will grind your pepper or salt.  They also come with a bright LED light that illuminates your food as the salt and pepper fall on it.  This way you know exactly how much salt you have put on your food, rather than guessing.

15 -20 minutes and you are seated at the table enjoying a dinner you would be willing to pay for.  Enjoy!
